Pinot Noir grapes grown at Mike and Phillipa Sharman’s Glenbothy vineyard at Relbia and made at Rosvears Winery. The vineyard has since been sold but Mike is still helping out.
The wine exhibits a light crimson red hue. The nose displays aromas of dark cherry intermixed with a touch of sour cherry, cedar and spice. The wine is light to medium weight but with impressive concentration and depth of palate.
Even though Sharmans suggests a cellar age of 1-2 years, my view is that it will cellar for much longer with no detriment other than a loss of some colour.
Definitely Italian fare, involving veal and pasta as well as soft cheeses. Also, try it with duck or quail.
